About Port of Switzerland and MS Evolutie

The Port of Switzerland is the national transport hub on the Rotterdam-Basel-Genoa freight transport corridor. Between 5-6 million tonnes of goods and over 100,000 containers are handled annually in the three port areas of Basel-Kleinhüningen, Birsfelden and Muttenz Au, which corresponds to 10 percent of all Swiss imports. One third of mineral oil products and one in four containers are handled via the Rhine port terminals. Excellent rail and road connections enable the transport of goods of all kinds. Around 80 port companies provide logistics services for containers as well as bulk, general and liquid cargo.

The MS Evolutie was built in Belgium in 1946 and travelled Europe's waterways as a cargo ship until 2014. Since 2015, the vintage ship has had a new role in Basel harbour, as a floating cultural freighter. The MS Evolutie can be hired for private parties, courses, workshops or corporate events. The MS Evolutie association offers both established and non-established artists and creative professionals favourable and attractive performance opportunities. The ship also serves as a sustainability platform for presentations, research and development of various sustainable projects. Find out more about MS Evolutie: www.ms-evolutie.ch
